I never imagined in a million years that I would be sitting, typing away with a 16 year-old eating dinner while watching a movie in my officehis bedroom. But that, my friends, is life at it’s best. Pouring down upon us, the goods straight from heaven, God blesses us with surprises all the time; some good, some bad, but none-the-less, from Him. That is how I view our new addition. Standing at 6ft 2in, this Kyrgyz boy has a gentle soul and spirit. Taking him to school the first time was just like dropping my youngest off at kindergarten. I walked away feeling like the mom from The Blind Side, only I’m not “packing”, although I guess I would pretend if I had too.
When people hear about our household, I receive the “wow, you have a full plate!” Yes I do, but this plate is filled with two delicious children, a third child that we are blessed to call our “temporary son”, and two people who are madly in love.
When we give ourselves freely to others, we are blessed ten-fold. If I am lucky enough to live 100 years, this is one more thing I can add to my life’s experiences. In my twenty-nine years, I have been charmed by a gentleman, felt tiny butterflies of an unborn child, kissed the face of an orphan then made her mine, and now, opened our home to a boy in need of a family. Despite all the pain I have lived through in these short years, I can say openly and freely that I would do it all over again to sit where I am today.
I have begun to drink in the possibilities of fall’s arrival; football games, both on TV and in person, the high school band, announcers, and cheers of the crowd, an annual hay bale run with my sister-n-law, Halloween costumes and decorations, and last but certainly not least, apple cider and homemade pies.

As for the two people that are madly in love, well we had the best date night ever at Westgate. (To my Mr: Let’s plan more of those coffee shop date’s in the midst of a cool nights air, where we chat and love on each other until it is time to return home to our children).

But seriously Westgate? What were you thinking with these?

Get your mind out of the gutter!!! Now for the part you all are waiting for!

I live in AZ and, as a true Pacific Northwest girl by heart, I’m not usually heard touting AZ’s finest features. But I will admit that the ability to picnic at the park in your flip flops in December, when the rest of the country is shivering and shoveling their driveways is not a bad thing. Also, I love how you can drive 2 hours north and be in a totally different world – cool air, trees, open spaces. So I guess it has it’s good points.
Colleen recently e-mailed me melting my heart with her sweet words:
I just wanted to let you know that I found your blog through Brea’s facebook posting, and it just has made such an impression on me. I knew some of your story just by being at PV over the past years on the weekends, and occasionally talking to Tariq, but did not know the extent of it. I just had to pass on that I think your blog is beautiful, and your spirit is more so. I’m so glad I followed the link Brea posted and got an opportunity to see them both.
All the best to you and your wonderful family
Colleen
(Brea might just be cursing you right now Colleen!)
